Bronhoclean (Acetylcysteine)

Acetylcysteinum

Bronhoclean 100 mg: 1 sachet contains acetylcysteine 100 mg. Bronhoclean 200 mg: 1 sachet contains acetylcysteine 200 mg. Bronhoclean 600 mg: 1 sachet contains acetylcysteine 600 mg. Excipients with known effect: sugar, sodium.

Indication: Mucolytic therapy indicated for respiratory conditions with thick, viscous hypersecretion (acute bronchitis, bronchiectasis, chronic bronchitis and its exacerbations, cystic fibrosis).

Contraindications (SmPC sec. 4.3): 4.3 Contraindications − Hypersensitivity to acetylcysteine or to any of the excipients listed in section 6.1 − Active peptic ulcer − Acetylcysteine must not be given to children under 2 years of age, except where vital indications exist. Bronhoclean 200 mg powder for oral solution must not be given to children under 2 years of age owing to the high amount of active substance.

Special warnings and precautions (SmPC sec. 4.4, excerpt): 4.4 Special warnings and precautions for use Patients with bronchial asthma should be closely monitored during therapy. If bronchospasm occurs, use of acetylcysteine should be discontinued immediately and appropriate treatment started. Caution is recommended when used in patients with a history of ulcers, particularly if they are taking additional medicinal products known to irritate the gastrointestinal mucosa. Use of acetylcysteine, particularly at the start of treatment, may liquefy and consequently increase the volume of bronchial secretions. If patients are unable to expectorate adequately, appropriate measures (such as postural drainage or aspiration) should be taken.
