Descritpion and Composition
1 ml of solution for injection contains lidocaine hydrochloride 100 mg.

1 ml of solution for injection contains lidocaine hydrochloride 20 mg.

Indication: For the 100 mg/ml strength: Ventricular arrhythmias (extrasystoles, tachycardia, flutter, fibrillation), including in the acute phase of myocardial infarction, during pacemaker implantation, digitalis intoxication, general anaesthesia. For the 20 mg/ml strength: Local anaesthesia (topical, infiltration, conduction) in surgery, ophthalmology, dentistry, otorhinolaryngology; peripheral nerve and nerve-trunk blocks in various pain syndromes.

Contraindications (SmPC sec. 4.3): 4.3 Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to lidocaine, other amide-type local anaesthetics or to any of the excipients listed in section 6.1
- history of epileptiform convulsions during administration of lidocaine;
- marked bradycardia;
- marked hypotension;
- cardiogenic shock;
- severe forms of chronic heart failure (grade II-III);
- sick sinus syndrome;
- second- and third-degree atrioventricular block
- Wolff-Parkinson-White (WPW) syndrome;
- Adams-Stokes syndrome;
- hypovolaemia;
- severe hepatic/renal impairment;
- porphyria;
- myasthenia gravis;
- retrobulbar administration in patients with glaucoma.

Lidocaine may be administered only by medical personnel. Treatment of the injection site with disinfectant solutions containing heavy metals increases the risk of a local reaction in the form of pain and oedema. ECG monitoring is mandatory during administration of lidocaine. In case of disturbances in sinus node activity, prolongation of the PQ interval, widening of the QRS complex, or the development of a new arrhythmia, the dose must be reduced/the medicinal product discontinued. Before using lidocaine in cardiac disease (hypokalaemia reduces the efficacy of lidocaine), blood potassium levels must be normalised. Before administering lidocaine at high doses, premedication with barbiturates is recommended.
