Balkan Pharmaceuticals Inaugurates a State-of-the-Art Industrial Complex in Romania
On Thursday, December 5, Balkan Pharmaceuticals marked a significant milestone in its history by inaugurating a modern factory in Pașcani, Iași County. With a total investment exceeding €9 million, co-funded through the 2014-2020 Regional Operational Program, the project reflects both the company’s commitment to excellence and its direct contribution to the region’s economic development.
The new facility, spanning 2,000 square meters, is equipped with state-of-the-art pharmaceutical production systems and equipment. The factory features two production lines, one for solid forms and another for liquid forms, with an impressive capacity of 500 kg powders/hour; 250,000 tablets-capsules/hour; 10,000 vials/hour. The complex also includes a dedicated department for the production of bioactive nutritional supplements made from Pharma Grade ingredients, compliant with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) standards.
In Romania, Balkan Pharmaceuticals aims to produce over 40 products intended for both European and American markets. Pharmaceutical products will be manufactured using innovative technologies that ensure enhanced durability, including special coatings to reduce oxidation of active ingredients. This approach underscores Balkan Pharmaceuticals’ commitment to consumer health, emphasizing not only treatment but also prevention through high-quality products.
“At the Pașcani factory, we will also produce bioactive nutritional supplements under conditions identical to those for medicines. It is a technological gem designed to meet the demands of the international market,” stated Alin Haucă, the company’s founder.
In addition to benefiting consumers, the Pașcani factory creates economic opportunities for the local community. Approximately 50 jobs will initially be generated, contributing to the region’s development and strengthening its position on the map of Europe’s pharmaceutical industry.
“Eighteen years after its founding, Balkan Pharmaceuticals is crossing the Prut River for the second time, bringing a portion of its investments back to Romania. The new industrial complex strengthens the security of our business and allows us to reintroduce into our portfolio products whose manufacturing had been discontinued for various reasons,” said Vasile Cazacu, the company’s general manager.
Founded in 2006 in the Republic of Moldova, Balkan Pharmaceuticals is distinguished by its two other modern industrial complexes in Chișinău and Sângera, where it produces over 300 products in various forms and doses. Expanding its activities in Romania consolidates the company’s status as the largest Romanian capital investment in the Republic of Moldova and underscores its efforts to develop cross-border economic relations.
Through this project, Balkan Pharmaceuticals not only expands its production capacity but also reaffirms its commitment to innovation, quality, and social responsibility.
