Thiamin-BP (Vitamin B1)

Thiamini hydrochloridum

1 ml of solution for injection of Tiamin-BP (Vitamin B1) 50 mg/ml contains thiamine hydrochloride 50 mg. Excipient with known effect: sodium.

Indication: Treatment of vitamin B1 hypovitaminosis and avitaminosis, neuritis, polyneuritis, radiculitis, neuralgia, peripheral paresis, encephalopathy, neurasthenia, gastric and duodenal ulcer disease, intestinal atony, chronic liver disorders, myocardial dystrophy, endarteritis. Tiamin-BP (Vitamin B1) is also indicated for dermatitis of neurogenic origin, eczema and psoriasis.

Hypersensitivity to thiamine or to any of the excipients listed in section 6.1; allergic conditions; idiosyncrasy.

Thiamine solution for injection is administered to patients with absorption disorders or gastric resection, when oral administration of thiamine is not possible (nausea, vomiting, pre- and post-operative periods), in severe illness, or at the start of treatment, in order to achieve a rapid therapeutic effect. Parenteral administration should be started with minimal doses of the product (no more than 0.5 ml in adults), and only in the case of good tolerability should higher doses be used. Serious hypersensitivity/anaphylactic reactions may occur, particularly after repeated administration. Deaths have occurred following intramuscular or intravenous administration of thiamine.
