Descritpion and Composition
1 ml of solution for injection contains vincamine 7.5 mg. Excipient with known effect: sodium metabisulphite 3 mg.

Indication: Normalisation and adaptation of cerebral blood flow to metabolic needs, improving brain functions: cerebral disorders in the elderly (memory, concentration, attention), degenerative trophic diseases (diabetes mellitus, atherosclerosis), sequelae of acute brain injury, dizziness/vertigo/headache of vascular origin and migraine, vascular hearing and eye disorders, psychiatric disturbances and cerebrovascular disorders, especially cerebral ischaemia.

Contraindications (SmPC sec. 4.3): 4.3 Contraindications
Vincamine is contraindicated in:
− Hypersensitivity to vincamine or to any of the excipients listed in section 6.1
− Intracranial tumours (or conditions associated with increased intracranial pressure)
− Convulsive disorders
− Stroke (acute cerebrovascular accident)
− Cardiac arrhythmias
− Severe electrolyte imbalances (hypokalaemia or hypocalcaemia)
− Pregnancy and breast-feeding
Not to be administered to children and adolescents because of the lack of data in this patient group.

Do not administer intravenously without dilution.
Cardiac arrhythmias
Administration of vincamine may cause torsade de pointes. Conditions predisposing to torsade de pointes must therefore be taken into account:
− in case of a history of hypokalaemia, including that induced by concomitantly administered medicinal products, potassium levels must be corrected before starting vincamine;
− bradycardia, regardless of aetiology;
− atrioventricular conduction disorders;
− other arrhythmias, particularly bradyarrhythmias – vincamine should be used with caution, under close supervision.
